- 1 Dem Vorsänger, dem Jeduthun. Ein Psalm Davids.
- 2 Ich habe gesagt: Ich will achten auf meine Wege, daß ich nicht sündige mit meiner Zunge; ich will meinem Mund einen Zaum anlegen, solange der Gottlose vor mir ist.
- 3 Ich war gänzlich verstummt, schwieg auch vom Guten, aber mein Schmerz machte mich unglücklich.
- 4 Mein Herz entbrannte in mir, durch mein Nachsinnen ward ein Feuer entzündet, ich mußte reden mit meiner Zunge.
- 5 Tue mir kund, o HERR, mein Ende und welches das Maß meiner Tage sei, damit ich weiß, wie vergänglich ich bin!
- 6 Siehe, nur Handbreiten lang hast du meine Tage gemacht, und meine Lebenszeit ist wie nichts vor dir; wahrlich, jeder Mensch, wie fest er steht, ist nur ein Hauch! (Pause.)
- 7 Ja, nur ein wandelnder Schatten ist jedermann; wahrlich, sie machen sich viel vergebliche Unruhe; sie sammeln und wissen nicht, wer es kriegen wird.
- 8 Und nun, Herr, worauf habe ich gewartet? Meine Hoffnung steht zu dir!
- 9 Errette mich von allen meinen Übertretungen, mache mich nicht den Narren zum Gespött!
- 10 Ich schweige und tue meinen Mund nicht auf; denn du hast es getan.
- 11 Wende deine Plage von mir; denn ich bin verschmachtet von der Strafe deiner Hand.
- 12 Wenn du jemand züchtigst um der Sünde willen, so lässest du gleich der Motte seine Schönheit vergehen; jeder Mensch ist nur ein Hauch! (Pause.)
- 13 HERR, höre mein Gebet und vernimm mein Schreien; schweige nicht zu meinen Tränen; denn ich bin ein Gast bei dir, ein Pilgrim wie alle meine Väter.
- 14 Blicke weg von mir, daß ich mich erheitere, ehe ich dahinfahre und nicht mehr sei!

Basic Hash Usage Explained
At getBible, we've established a robust system to keep our API synchronized with the Crosswire project's modules. Let me explain how this integration works in simple terms.
We source our Bible text directly from the Crosswire modules. To monitor any updates, we generate "hash values" for each chapter, book, and translation. These hash values serve as unique identifiers that change only when the underlying content changes, thereby ensuring a tight integration between getBible and the Crosswire modules.
Every month, an automated process runs for approximately three hours. During this window, we fetch the latest Bible text from the Crosswire modules. Subsequently, we compare the new hash values and the text with the previous ones. Any detected changes trigger updates to both our official getBible hash repository and the Bible API for all affected translations. This system has been operating seamlessly for several years.
Once the updates are complete, any application utilizing our Bible API should monitor the hash values at the chapter, book, or translation level. Spotting a change in these values indicates that they should update their respective systems.
Hash values can change due to various reasons, including textual corrections like adding omitted verses, rectifying spelling errors, or addressing any discrepancies flagged by the publishers maintaining the modules at Crosswire.
The Crosswire initiative, also known as the SWORD Project, is the "source of truth" for getBible. Any modifications in the Crosswire modules get reflected in our API within days, ensuring our users access the most precise and current Bible text. We pledge to uphold this standard as long as getBible exists and our build scripts remain operational.
